About The Neighbourhood
To the west of popular Humewood and Wychwood is Oakwood Village, a new destination for first-time homebuyers thanks to the relative affordability of its detached and semi-detached homes. Some of the houses in this neighbourhood have been converted into duplexes and triplexes, easing the financial burden of young owners by enabling them to generate income through apartment rentals. There’s also still a nice mix of older Italian and Portuguese multigenerational families living in the neighbourhood, especially between Oakwood Avenue and Dufferin Street.
In the past, there was always a bit of a stigma around Oakwood Village but that’s definitely changing – and quickly! In fact, investors are prowling the area for opportunities as they see the value of homes rising and the retail stretch evolving.
Over the past few years, independent coffee shops, gastropubs and family-oriented businesses like dance schools and child-oriented martial arts studios have set up home in the Oakwood Village neighbourhood. Over the next few years, we’ll undoubtedly watch its gentrification unfold and prices rise.

Oakwood Village is well served by buses within walking distance of every home. Service can be accessed on Vaughan Road, Eglinton Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue. The bus that runs on Oakwood Avenue and currently travels to the Eglinton West subway station will eventually take residents to the Crosstown LRT, which promises to ease east-west movement across Eglinton. There’s also the St. Clair streetcar, which takes residents to the St. Clair West subway station in just 10 minutes.
The west side of downtown can be reached by car in 10 to 15 minutes via Dufferin Street, Ossington Avenue, or Christie Street. Highway 401 can also be reached in 15 to 20 minutes via the Allen Road expressway.

My daughter loves visiting Oakwood Espresso as she knows she will always see a “doggy” waiting patiently for its owner out front. Oh, and she loves the sweet scones supplied by
Oakwood Village has seen an influx of young families purchasing homes on the side streets east and west of Oakwood Avenue. It continues to be one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in midtown Toronto by first time home buyers. It is one of my top neighbourhoods to watch in central Toronto as the retail strip evolves and the neighbourhood gentrifies.
Be sure to visit Oakwood Espresso - enjoy the friendly company and fall in love with this local gem. Next stop, we are off to have fun in Cedarvale Park.

This summer, the Krave Coffee owners will be opening their juice shop right next door and true to its roots, it will be called Krave Juice. Their patio will surely be buzzing having both Krave Coffee and Krave Juice attracting locals that wish to soak up the sun or do some work while sipping a tasty summer drink.
If you haven’t had the chance to indulge in a Krave latte, I suggest popping in if you live in the hood. If you are passing through St Clair West, parking is super easy as Krave is lucky to have a Green P parking lot right next door.
It is abundantly clear that the locals crave what the owners of Krave have to offer. It will surely continue to be one of my regular spots. See you soon @Kravecoffee.
